Growing Closer

Love is a funny thing at times. As I grow closer to people, their feelings and interests start to become part of me. This dream is the perfect example. Now, I actually had this dream last week on Thursday, the 22nd of March, but I've been fairly busy these past weeks.

BACKGROUND:
I've been dating a woman lately that has been a great joy in my life. I'd like to think we've grown rather close. We both have a unique view of water. I love being submerged in water, and she would rather not be. Without going into further detail, she is unable to swim in deep water, and I am completely fine with that. Also to add, I tend to have major qualms with life/death situations when involving someone I care about.

Anywho, as the summer draws closer this year, I'm extremely excited to go swimming, kayaking and fishing. Being in water is one of my passions. So this dream must have put together my passion for water and this woman's fear.

DREAM:
I'm out on a date with this woman. We are both in single, sit-in kayaks on a familiar lake. It was a summer evening with the sun half-set. I had a nervous feeling as I watched her ahead.

A few moments later, she fell into the water and my heart started racing. I knew she could not swim, so I flipped my kayak over to go in after her. The water was cool, murky and I could only see a silhouette of her beneath me. As I reached for her, a few thoughts were running through my head:

...will I find her.. will I be able to pull her out.. will she drown.. where's her kayak.. I must find something to pull us up.. is she ok...

There were a lot of other thoughts in my head amidst the confusion in the water, but I took hold of her hand, latched onto her kayak and pulled us above the water.

As dreams often do shift, somehow we went from being in the middle of the lake to washed up on the shore. I was sitting on the sand, the water was up to my chest, and she was sitting on my lap. I was holding onto her and looking into her eyes. Her hair was curly, wet and had been brushed to the sides of her face. Both of us were shivering, but she looked so beautiful. A few moments later, I smirked and said, "heh, you're in the water.." After I said that, she smiled too as if relieved. Afterwards, I woke up.

The context behind my statement was playfully saying that she survived going into the deep water and together, we overcame both our fears. Her fear of deep water, and my fear of losing her.

Ever See a Pig Whale?

Haha.. so I had another interesting dream this morning. :) I was down at the Baltimore Aquarium with my mother. We had been to a bunch of places before arriving at the aquarium, but unfortunately I do not remember what.

As my mother and I walked into the aquarium building, you could see a large circular service desk. A young lady (blonde and in her late 20's) was behind the desk talking to a group of people. I listened in on her conversation as my mother and I passed by. She was giving the people an introduction about the tour, and the cost to go on the tour. I didn't want to pay money for a tour, so my mother and I moved on.

The circular desk was towards the front of the building. To the left of the desk were a bunch of shelves with items you could purchase (Basically like a convenient store). I don't remember seeing a ceiling, so it must have been really high. Besides the shelves and desk, it was a big empty room with a hallway towards the back. The hallway was literally about a football field distance away from the desk. The lighting made it feel like evening; after the sun had set. The room was lit with white fluorescent lights, but the carpeted floor, desk and colors in the room were that of a medium blue. For the most part, it felt like a slow business day in a large open place (Like waiting at a terminal in the Charles de Gaulle airport at 4am).

My mother trailed off towards the hallway, but I wanted to buy a journal and a pen. I knew if I did not write down the events that occurred before the aquarium, I would forget what we did. While I searched the shelves for notebooks and pens, I got a desire for some cough drops (I think my throat felt scratchy). So, I figured I'd buy a pack after I got a notebook and some pens.

A bit later, I found a medium size, black and white striped notebook. I couldn't find any pens. It occurred to me that I should probably buy pencils instead (In case I need to erase). I looked everywhere for pencils, found one pack, and their erasers sucked. Don't you hate it when the erasers are hard?!  You instantly know they are just going to smear instead of erase. Total pet-peeve of mine..

Anywho, I gave up on the notebook thing and figured "Oh well" if I forget (I think that's about the time I realized I was dreaming. Only when I dream, do I want to write things down before I forget them). Since I wasn't buying a notebook, I didn't bother looking for the cough drops either. At this time, my mother had vanished. I figured she was already in the actual aquarium, so I made my way towards the back hallway. The hallway was dimly lit (Reminded me of a movie theatre hallway but a lot shorter).

As I opened the door to enter the actual aquarium, I immediately noticed the blonde tour guide talking to a group of people. I wanted to go past her and look for my mother, but what she was talking about caught my attention.

She said: "Here we have a pig whale. A rare, marvelous creature. We were able to save it from shear death. It's parents were killed by.. "

I don't remember what she said after that, but come on.. A PIG WHALE? Dream or no dream, I halted the search for my mother and walked over to the water tank the lady was standing beside. It was a rather large tank, like you'd see for sharks and such, but only the pig whale resided in it. I was standing at the top of the tank looking down to the lower depths. Besides the pig whale, there was only clear, dark blue water and a soft-gray dusty floor.

I looked at the pig whale, and its appearance fit its name perfectly. The back half was that of a whale, and the fish had the head of a pig. It's rather large mouth was opening up wide and closing in slow movements. Almost made me think that it was crying out for loved ones.. Strange.. but, after the pig whale opened its mouth up for the third time, I woke up.

Cheers and until the next dream..
